The ability to sustainably manage water in terms of quantity and cost is vital to GC’s business operations in order to prevent process disruption, preserve competitiveness and secure future project investment plans. Therefore, GC must define proactive measures, drive sustainable water management at the national level, acquire additional water supply, and consider the use of technology to reduce water consumption to ensure adequate water supply for our existing productions as well as to accommodate future projects at reasonable costs. • Water shortage in the production process can cause process disruption, affecting GC’s operational credibility. • GC might be faced with higher production costs due to increased costs in water procurement to ensure sufficient water supply for production and other future projects. Strategic Risk Factors Sustainable Water Management Business Impacts Strategic Risk Factors • Continuously monitor and assess risks from drought as well as issue mitigation plans and business continuity plans in the case of drought. • Enhance water efficiency in the production process, utilize renewable water, support investment in waterrelated technology, streamline production process, and seek alternative water supply, such as Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) and Wastewater Reverse Osmosis (WWRO), etc. • Conduct study on possible approaches in acquiring backup water supply and implement new technology for water production. Mitigation Measures • Encourage and promote integrated sustainable water management practices and policies at the national level through a collaborative network with the government, private, and industrial sectors, such as the Water and Environment Institute for Sustainability, the Federation of Thai Industries, the Eastern Water War Room, etc. We have also expedited the establishment of a regulatory body for the management of contracts and water pr ice mechanism for transparent and fair implementation in the industrial sector in order to increase GC and Thailand’s competitiveness.
