Separate and Turn Waste into Merit with the “Offering Recyclable Waste” Activity

With Rayong as our home, GC has consistently balanced the economy, society, and environment building strong connections between these three segments thereby empowering the local community’s strength and sustainability. Going forward, GC aims to be a driving force by bringing innovation, technology, expertise, experience, management guidelines, and knowledge, including the volunteer spirit of GC Group, to support Rayong’s identity as a “strong community” that generates good jobs for the community while managing resources and protecting the ecosystem. This combined effort will continue to allow the community to prosper by being self-reliant over the long-term.

To promote waste management within the community, GC and ENVICCO, GC's first plastic recycling plant, in collaboration with the Wat Chak Luk Ya Community, Map Ta Phut Municipality, Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate Office, and local entrepreneurs, organized the “Offering Recyclable Waste” activity using proceeds from the sale of recycled waste and other donations to improve Senasana (the residence of Buddhist monks) at Wat Rayong. Accordingly, this generated interest among residents, entrepreneurs and communities who brought plastic waste to make merit. More than 200 GC Group’s volunteers also brought used plastic such as clear PET water bottles, HDPE plastic such as milk bottles, condiment containers, and bottles of laundry detergent to make merit in this activity. The transportation of the used plastic to ENVICCO was provided by the YOU-Turn platform. GC Group’s volunteers helped separate the waste and shared best practices on proper waste separation with those who attended the event.

In addition, the “Offering Recyclable Waste” activity accepts donations of used electrical appliances which are refurbished by volunteers from Rayong Polytechnic College for sale as second-hand items. Proceeds from sales are given as offerings to the temple. Waste normally seen as having no value is instead used to make merit by everyone. Just maximize its value by separating the waste properly, and it can then be reused with a purpose.
