2020 Tech Trends: Hurry Up or You’ll Miss the Boat (End)

Share:

Let's get back to the remaining Technology Trends for 2020:

  1. Computer Vision and Facial Recognition

Computer vision and facial recognition are a kind of technological vision system, featuring the detection and recognition of images – especially faces, for further processing. The technology can be adapted to detect, recognize, and analyze the faces of clients and employees – confirm their identities, and can connect to command control for devices, robots and machines.

  2. Robots and Cobots

Robots and cobots will soon be working together, enabling improved communications and seamless operations.

  3. Autonomous Vehicles

In the last few years, we have seen many automobile manufacturers developing their autonomous vehicles using sensory systems used to control the entire vehicle, and map building using satellite images. The development of autonomous vehicles is shifting into gear, inspiring many countries to utilize this technology for other vehicles such as trucks and boats.

  4. 5G

Fifth generation wireless communications, better known as 5G technology, offers 1,000 times more efficiency than 4G networks, improving speeds and the use of smartphones and other devices. The increased speed of 5G can also make other technologies more stable.

  5. Genomics and Gene Editing

Genomics and gene editing have been developed for medical use of human cells, and for personalized cancer treatment in some countries.

  6. Machine co-Creativity and Augmented Design

Nowadays, we are seeing several works made by humans but co-created with machines. This technology enables machines to understand visual arts and artwork, for example, several systems using AI technology can learn, process, and present many forms of artistic beauty to humans.

  7. Digital Platforms

Digital platforms can act as a bridge between demand, production, and supply, providing a potential way to generate income. Examples include Facebook, Instagram, and Airbnb. Anyone who understands their value and the opportunities in using them can develop their own strategies to create new businesses.

  8. Drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

The capabilities, shapes and sizes of drones have continuously improved over the last several years. Nowadays, people are using drones for different reasons, including as couriers, to fight fires, and other dangerous tasks such as hostage search and rescue.

  9. Cybersecurity and Resilience

We are approaching an era where technology is expected to spur a shift in growth, resulting in businesses being better prepared to handle anticipated threats. This means that cybersecurity is of critical importance, ensuring robust systems to guard against cybercrimes. Systems must be resilient and capable of handling many forms of cyberattacks, enabling businesses to continue operating without any disruptions.

  10. Quantum Computing, Quantum Computers

Quantum computing, quantum computers are 100 million times faster than our PCs. In the past, they were used for laboratory experiments. However, they are ready to be developed in ways that further increase speeds ideally serving clients as end-consumers over the next ten years.

  11. Robotic Process Automation

Robotic process automation will be more widely used in the fields of manufacturing and client services, offering support to front-office and repetitive customer-facing jobs whereas people will be transferred to work in a more analytic positions with complex functions.

  12. Mass Personalization and Micro moments

"Mass Personalization" and "Mass Customization" enable us to classify a large number of customers into specific market segments. Furthermore, through AI-driven big data processing technologies, we can understand and design communications that serve customers' personalized demands. In term of micro-moments, which happen anytime, and anywhere, while information we are looking for will be immediately retrieved and presented.

  13. 3D and 4D Printing and Additive Manufacturing

Nowadays, 3D and 4D printing have become much more common. However, their capabilities can be further developed, allowing us to make changes and adjustments in an application

  14. Nanotechnology and Materials Science

Nanotechnology and materials science enable people to understand the characteristics of materials used in production. Therefore, the eventual development of these two critical areas will allow us to achieve truly ground-breaking designs in new materials and innovations.

Technology is ever-present in our work and daily lives. Therefore, understanding how these technologies work and utilizing their benefits can allow us to improve the efficiency of our operations, which in turn, will contribute to more rapid and sustainable business growth.
