Although the COVID-19 situation is gradually improving in Thailand and the current number of patients has declined, medical and healthcare workers, as well as Thais, are being advised to stay healthy and safe. At the same time, GC Group is reiterating its gratitude towards medical professionals.

Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, along with GC Group’s executive team, presented CoviClear, the silver nanoparticle disinfection unit designed to help lower the risk of COVID-19 transmission, to hospitals. This innovation was developed by GC to prevent and disinfect germs by releasing silver nanoparticles through a micron-sized nozzle in the form of a vapor. The vapor pairs the silver nanoparticles with viruses, bacteria and other diseases that a person carries, including on their clothing, killing them on contact without causing any harm. Together with the CoviClears, the company also provided raw materials to produce two types of disinfectant liquid: triethanolamine, for which GC is the only manufacturer in Thailand, and pharmaceutical grade glycerin for use in the CoviClear to Rajavithi Hospital, Phramongkutklao Hospital, Chulalongkorn Hospital, the Thai Red Cross Society, Somdej Phranangchaosirikit Hospital, the Naval Medical Department, Ramathibodi Hospital, and the HRH Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Science on April 28 and 30, 2020.

In addition, GC Group provided face shields made from bioplastic using 3D printing technology through an internal collaboration involving R&D in design, development and production. As a result, the 3D printed face shields are more durable and also sterilized with 70% alcohol.

By cooperating with 30 partners with expertise in 3D technology, together with the support of GC Group’s employees who volunteered their time, the company was able to assemble and provide 500 3D printed face shields to Rajavithi Hospital, 500 3D printed face shields, 500 disposable gowns made from InnoPlus HDPE, and eight partition units also made from InnoPlus HDPE to help prevent and reduce the risk of infections for medical professionals at Ramathibodi Hospital.

Furthermore, the company and its network of partners joined together to deploy their resources and engineering competencies by providing 3,000 kilograms of InnoPlus (HDPE 1010J) to the “Partnership for the Plastic Industry.” This contribution will go towards producing plastic face shield injections which will be provided to medical professionals to prevent exposure to blood and bodily fluids thereby reducing the risk of infections.
