Additionally, we plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% to enable partners and customers to take part in accomplishing this commitment, together with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through creating models and an ecological economy for a more circular Thailand.”

GC is committed to improving the quality of life for the Thai people through a sustainable approach encompassing the community, provincial, and national levels. From the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic to date, GC has accelerated its contributions to society by collaborating with partners to continuously deliver innovations that combine safety and sustainability benefiting healthcare professionals and the public. The innovations include the delivery of four million PE gowns under the “Greater Care by GC” brand as part of the “Millions Support… Ensuring A Safe Space for All” project and the “Greater Care Charity by GC & Customers” project. Through a collaboration involving GC, GC Marketing Solutions Company Limited (GCM), together with 84 stakeholders including customers, partners and plastic entrepreneurs, an integrated set of innovative plastics and plastic-based products were delivered to four new field hospitals and waiting centers located in Rayong, Samut Sakhon, and Samut Prakan. This also included funding for the Thai Red Cross Society to produce a high flow nasal canular (Chula HFNC) for delivery to hospitals across the country. The collaboration also supports the development of Thai-made innovations including the powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR), face masks, coveralls made from 100% recycled plastic (rPET), which can be cleaned and reused up to 20 times, and red waste bags and bins made from innovative plastic resins for infectious waste, which received the Carbon Footprint Reduction Label certification demonstrating the environmentally friendliness of plastic resins.

Furthermore, GC is helping to strengthen communities through the “2E1S” approach which includes the economy, society, and environment by applying socially responsible business models such as the “Pracharath Rak Samakkee Rayong (Social Enterprise)” project, which has generated more than 10 million baht in income in the past five years for residents across eight districts of Rayong province. It further empowers communities to grow sustainably. This has brought pride to GC as we continue to stand side by side with the Thai people and deliver contributions that have a positive social impact.

The UN Global Compact was established by the United Nations to promote cooperation in sustainability among organizations around the world to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The UN Global Compact is also committed to supporting businesses by helping them develop strategies and operations in accordance with 10 international principles covering four key areas namely: human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, as well as other operations to benefit the society.
