On November 19, 2021, the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) joined together with leading network partners from the public and private sectors in Thailand to launch the "Climate Action Leaders Forum (Class 1)" project on Facebook Live. This project aims to support those who are playing a pivotal role in reducing the country's greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs), including the government and private sectors, the media, NGOs and international organizations by allowing them to discuss and exchange ideas and experiences to find solutions to climate change. This effort will continue to drive the world towards carbon neutrality and net zero emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement and COP 26 which was held in Glasgow last November.

During the discussion in the “Leadership roles and commitment in the fight against the climate crisis” session, CEO Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, together with Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Noppadol Dej-Udom, Chief Executive Officer of Corporate Sustainability of Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd., Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and Mr. Alex Rendell, Co-Founder and CEO of the Environmental Education Center Thailand also offered their insights on sustainability which reflect GC's commitment in cooperating with the public and private sectors in achieving the goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

GC’s CEO stated that the company has focused on sustainability by incorporating the principles of the circular economy in its business operations, producing environmentally friendly chemicals that improve people's lives according to its "Chemistry for Better Living" commitment, while striving to create a balance between business growth and sustainability. Accordingly, the company set up a net zero operation in line with the Paris Agreement to reduce GHGs by 20% by 2030 with a goal of reaching net zero by 2050 through three key approaches: 1. Efficiency-Driven: A 20% GHG reduction by streamlining current and future processes to minimize emissions while adopting new technologies; 2. Portfolio-Driven: A 25% GHG reduction through business restructurings with a focus on environmentally friendly low-carbon businesses such as performance chemicals, biochemicals, green and recycling businesses; and 3. Compensation-Driven: Reducing GHGs by 55% by offsetting the remaining carbon through effective guidelines together with a wide range of high-performance technologies. GC is confident that its net zero goal can be achieved with the cooperation of all sectors.
