COVID-19 infections in 2020 have had a severe impact globally and forced people to be more resilient and extra attentive in preventing any further spread of the virus. In the meantime, we cannot be negligent in how we manage the increasing levels of plastic waste.

GC promotes and operates its business in line with the principles of the circular economy, and on October 10, 2020, Dr. Chaya Chandavasu, Senior Vice President, Sustainability and Corporate Branding, was invited to speak at the ‘Enday: Bringing Together Eco-Friendly People, When the Disease Leaves, Who is Hurting’ event, where a sample of eco-friendly products were on display. The event, organized by the new generation ecological group ENVIRONMAN, attracted a large audience at Ecotopia in Siam Discovery and through their LIVE online channel.

"GC has always recognized the importance of sustainability, and we applied the concept of the circular economy to guide our operations with a focus on the efficient use of resources with maximum benefits, reducing environmental impacts and building balance throughout the supply chain. We are also committed to raising awareness and improving understanding across sectors to improve waste sorting practices, particularly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic which has resulted in an increased amount of plastic waste generated daily due to the various applications to prevent and reduce the spread of the coronavirus. This underscores the need for appropriate waste management, to mitigate any increase in plastic waste," said Dr. Chaya.
