GC continues to develop various forms of packaging made of plastic through the upcycling process to help drive the world towards sustainability. GC and Miniwiz, a leading Taiwanese company dedicated to upcycling waste into new value-added products, teamed up to hold the “Trashpresso | Funtastic Upcycling Plastics” activity and introduce the ‘Trashpresso’ – Thailand’s first mobile plastic upcycling machine, which aims to raise awareness by encouraging proper plastic waste separation and upcycling.

The Mini TRASHPRESSO is an advanced innovation that was designed to significantly reduce the quantity of plastic waste and has allowed GC to increase awareness among Thais strengthening waste management practices while playing a more active role through GC Circular Living #lifestylethatchangestheworld, which promotes the efficient use of natural resources and getting the maximum benefits. In addition, GC has decided to further upcycle used plastics in various forms of packaging, taking on a pivotal role to further drive sustainability throughout the world. In partnership with Miniwiz, a leading Taiwanese company dedicated to upcycling waste into new value-added products, GC held the “Trashpresso | Funtastic Upcycling Plastics” activity and introduced the ‘Trashpresso’ – Thailand’s first mobile plastic upcycling machine which provides a new experience by upcycling used plastics. The project recently kicked-off in designated pilot areas in Bangkok and Rayong and will expand to additional areas nationwide.
The project’s objectives include strengthening awareness and promoting good habits through an approach that contributes to proper plastic waste separation for recycling and incorporating used plastic waste using the Mini TRASHPRESSO to produce new, value added products. The project demonstrates the benefits of plastic waste through the upcycling process supporting GC Circular Living #lifestylethatchangestheworld which promotes the efficient use of natural resources ensuring their maximum benefits.
The Mini TRASHPRESSO is an integrated mobile used plastic upcycling machine that can handle various types of plastic including High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low density polyethylene (LDPE), Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), Polypropylene (PP), Polystyrene (PS) and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). It transforms plastic waste into new, value-added products with different applications such as plant pots, decorative wall items, and coasters which can be produced within just five minutes through the six following steps
Trashpresso the six following steps:

Used plastic is cut into flakes to make the molding of products easier.

The flakes are washed and cleaned using the Ultrasonic system.

The cleaned flakes are dried to reduce moisture before being prepared for the melting and molding processes.

Participants choose their preferred flakes to weigh based on the type of product such as plant pots and coasters.

The selected flakes are then melted at specific temperatures based on the type of plastic before being molded into a new product using the appropriate temperatures.

The product is cooled and decorated before reuse.
The Trashpresso | Funtastic Upcycling Plastics activity is increasing awareness of the recycling process and waste management practices in support of the Circular Economy, and increasing social engagement with the public. Communities and agencies, for instance, are just some of the groups that can improve plastic waste management by doing more to add value to used plastics, increase cooperation by initiating activities dealing with plastic waste and upcycling used plastic using the innovative Mini TRASPRESSO. This can inspire others to do the same and promote further research and development of recycling and upcycling processes such as new product developments using recycled plastics with other materials. GC expects that the Trashpresso | Funtastic Upcycling Plastics activity will play a key role in enhancing GC CIRCULAR LIVING #lifestylethatchangestheworld among Thais which will lead to the sustainable and efficient use of resources.
