In Nakhon Pathom province, on the 2nd of November, 2022, GC joined hands with the Lam Hoei Subdistrict Administration Organization to open a waste management and recycling center, the first plastic waste management model in Nakhon Pathom province, with the goal of creating opportunities, creating jobs, and generating income for the local community. This project is an extension of the community waste model project, expanding it from Rayong to Nakhon Pathom, and includes the YOUTURN platform system to help in the management of used plastic, including clear bottles, PET bottles, and HDPE bottles. The project covers all aspects of the process, from the sorting, storage, and transportation, to the complete recycling and delivery of used plastics for the proper management of processing and, finally, the management of sales to the ENVICCO plant. For this event, Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, presided over the ceremony. In addition, Mr. Surasak Charoensirichot, Governor of Nakhon Pathom Province, Mr. Wiboon Chuchepchunkamon, Chief Operating Officer of the Center of Excellence at PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, and Mr. Mongkol Sophap, President of Lam Hoei Subdistrict Administrative Organization, were also in attendance at the ceremony, which was held at the Lam Hoei Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Nakhon Pathom Province.

Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, stated, “I am both honored and pleased to preside over the opening ceremony of the Waste Management and Recycling Center at Lam Hoei Subdistrict Administrative Organization at this time. This is a collaboration between Lam Hoei Subdistrict Administrative Organization; the Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment, Nakhon Pathom; the Office of Natural Resources and the Environment, Nakhon Pathom; PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, or GC; ENVICCO Company Limited; and Ruam Jai Community Enterprise, Lam Hoei Subdistrict, all of whom share a common goal: the implementation and development of a waste management and recycling center that makes this the first model community with comprehensive management and handling of plastic waste in Nakhon Pathom Province. The project also responds to the country’s policy for driving the BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) Economy as a national agenda. In addition, measures are in place to drive BCG forward using science, technology, and innovation to help improve the country’s economy. The project will create opportunities, create jobs, and generate income for the local community, as well as reducing negative environmental impacts and minimizing costs for government agencies managing community waste.”

Mr. Somkiat Poolsukserm, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Pathom Province, said, “On behalf of Nakhon Pathom Province, it’s a great pleasure to see cooperation between Lam Hoei Subdistrict Administrative Organization; the Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment, Nakhon Pathom; PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, or GC; ENVICCO Company Limited; and Ruam Jai Community Enterprise, sharing a united purpose and aim. This project for the development of a waste management and recycling center will allow this to be the very first model project for comprehensive plastic waste management and handling in Nakhon Pathom Province, bringing benefits and creating value both for the environment, and for career-building and the creation of sustainable revenue for the community.”

Mr. Wiboon Chuchepchunkamon, Chief Operating Officer of the Center of Excellence at PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, said, “GC recognizes the importance of conducting business responsibly in regard to the environment, society, and the community, and it carries out sustainable business operations according to ESG principles. As such, the Company is focused on comprehensive community waste management or using the Community Waste Model to create a waste management network involving all sectors, connecting recycled plastic waste with avenues for reuse that provide maximum benefit in line with the Circular Economy model.

“Today, GC is pleased to collaborate with the Lam Hoei Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Lam Hoei Subdistrict Administrative Organization; the Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment, Nakhon Pathom; and Ruam Jai Community Enterprise on this recycling project in Lam Hoei Subdistrict. We are developing this waste management and recycling center as the first comprehensive plastic waste management model in Nakhon Pathom province with the goal of helping to reduce environmental impacts, as well as to create careers and generate income for the local community, allowing it to be strong and self-reliant. GC is also introducing the YOUTURN platform system to help with comprehensive management throughout the supply chain. The YOUTURN application can be utilized for everything from record keeping, accounting, and stock preparation, to the management of sales to the ENVICCO plant, making it easy and convenient for the community to use. In addition, in order to make plastic waste management more efficient, GC is sponsoring equipment such as a solid waste compactor, moving and lifting tools, and smart or EV freight cycles for use in community waste transportation, and is providing a linkage to the Sampran model’s waste management system to enable the community to manage its waste recycling as a complete, comprehensive process.”

Mr. Mongkol Sophap, President of Lam Hoei Subdistrict Administrative Organization, said the following: “The development of this waste management and recycling center is receiving full cooperation from a variety of sectors and organizations, including the Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment, Nakhon Pathom; PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited or GC; ENVICCO Company Limited; and Ruam Jai Community Enterprise in Lam Hoei Subdistrict. This project is important, as it will reduce environmental problems in the community caused by incorrect waste management, and it will encourage communities to have their own comprehensive waste management and recycling from start to final destination. It will also support increased employment and career-building, generate continuous income for people in the community, and help to upgrade waste management from the community recycling waste bank to a full waste management and recycling center where recycled plastics can be separated and prepared for direct sale to the factory. Again, this grows community revenue, increases community participation in both the proper separation and management of waste, and aids in expansion and proliferation of the same knowledge to neighboring communities and even to the wider community, enabling local communities to be sustainably self-sufficient.”

This Waste Management and Recycling Center is the first plastic waste management model in Nakhon Pathom province. The Center’s goals are to create opportunities, create jobs, and generate income for the local community. The amount of plastic waste collected and sent through the recycling process is expected to be up to 60 tons per year. In addition, there will be a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 61,860 kilograms of CO2, which is equivalent to planting 687 large trees.
