Creating Added Value and Improving the Quality of Life
The implementation of projects for conserving, restoring marine resources, and promoting tourism from 2013-2023.
Conservation, restoration of marine resources, and tourism promotion.
GC has been actively engaged in activities to promote and support the public relations effort to restore the image and tourism of Koh Samet and Rayong Province following the oil spill at the end of 2013. These efforts have continued under two main initiatives: 1) Public relations through media and activities in collaboration with the press, and 2) Special activities to promote the image and boost tourism of Koh Samet, in cooperation with local agencies and communities, to enhance tourists' confidence, create jobs, and generate income for local businesses and residents.
In 2024, GC implemented CSR initiatives to promote and develop the fishing profession in collaboration with 19 local fishing groups, undertaking eight projects: constructing artificial habitats for marine life using fish aggregating devices (FADs), establishing a crab bank for egg-bearing blue crabs, providing materials and tools to repair traditional fishing boats, supporting black crab farming to supplement income, developing squid trapping equipment, processing seafood to increase product value, constructing a pier for local fishing boats, and establishing an aquatic animal bank for sustainable conservation. Additionally, since 2013, GC has continuously supported tourism promotion and community well-being in the Ban Phe–Koh Samet area. This includes sponsoring the Ban Phe–Koh Samet Beach Tourism Festival, funding restroom renovations and the construction of a multipurpose hall roof at Koh Kaew Phitsadan School, and supporting traditional and social activities such as the Songkran and Loy Krathong festivals, anti-drug football competitions, and the Kathin robe offering ceremony at Koh Samet Temple.
