Although COVID-19 infections in Thailand have decreased, to prevent further community spread or a second wave, GC developed an acrylic ‘wall shield’ made of a substrate from GC Group, to respond to the ‘new normal.’ They are designed for use in public areas and by street food vendors.

On May 21, 2020, Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, Chief Executive Officer of GC, together with Dr. Chaya Chantawasu, Executive Vice President, Sustainability and Corporate Branding, and GC executives, delivered the acrylic wall shields to Mr. Narathip Rattapradit, Senior Executive Vice President Operations of Siam Piwat Company Limited, to support their use throughout ONESIAM Group’s shopping malls which consist of Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery and Icon Siam under the management of Siam Piwat.

Siam Piwat is one of GC’s co-sustainability partners, and recognizes the importance of using value-added plastic. The two companies have worked together over the last three years on initiatives including the ‘Upcycled X’mas Tree,’ a Christmas tree made from plastic bottles and bags under the ‘From Trash to Treasure’ concept helping the public understand the value of plastic and its benefits, together with its reusability. These initiatives, in turn, support the ‘GC Circular Living’ concept which adopts principles of the Circular Economy, which promotes the efficient use of resources and reducing waste through recycling.
