14 May 2021, Bangkok: GC continues to support medical personnel, public hospitals, government agencies, frontline health volunteers, and NGOs in the midst of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic through the “Millions Support… Ensuring A Safe Space for All” project, which is providing one million pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) under the Greater Care by GC brand.

Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, CEO of PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited or GC, said, “The COVID-19 pandemic in Thailand remains critical given the elevated numbers of infections. As a company committed to sustainable business practices, GC is supporting everyone involved in this effort including medical personnel, public hospitals, government agencies, frontline health volunteers, and non-governmental organizations. We recently launched the "Millions Support… Ensuring A Safe Space for All” project to help tackle the third wave using our advanced plastic molding innovations to produce medical devices and equipment providing the maximum value and benefits from plastic. With the intention of giving back to society in collaboration with our partners, we have been providing PPE, medical equipment and devices under the Greater Care by GC brand to help curb COVID-19 infections in public hospitals and state agencies nationwide since the first wave. The goal of this project is to provide one million pieces of PPE to sufficiently meet the public’s needs.”

The PPE provided by GC covers two categories:

  1. PE gowns: GC partnered with Thai Hospital Products Co., Ltd. to produce disposable PE gowns made of high-quality polyethylene (PE) plastic resins, designed by GC to be lightweight, comfortable to wear, breathable, robust, and flexible. The gowns feature antibacterial properties and were designed to be flexible when worn. After being used, the gown can be easily torn facilitating disposal and reducing exposure and the risk of infection.
  2. Coveralls: GC collaborated with Thai Taffeta Co., Ltd. to produce coveralls made from 100% recycled PET (rPET) plastic resins in Thailand. One coverall is made from 18 PET water bottles and comes with a polytetrafluorethylene coating providing a perfect barrier to hydrostatic pressure. It can be cleaned and reused up to 20 times, (level-2 PPE) and was produced in accordance with ANSI/AAMI PB70 standards.

Agencies interested in receiving PE gowns as part of the “Millions Support… Ensuring A Safe Space for All” project can make a request at: https://forms.gle/iQSFp1GypMQeF7R46

GC is ready to support “increased safe spaces for all” by outlining a comprehensive plan that includes a reduced dependence on imports and affordable locally produced raw materials by promoting domestic development of plastic innovations and production with no long-term environmental impacts. This effort meets our goal of achieving “Chemistry for Better Living” to substantially improve people’s lives.
