PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, or GC, today unveiled its ‘Everlasting Forest by GC’ pavilion at Bangkok Design Week 2020 for the third consecutive year. This pavilion, designed under the Circular Living concept, encourages more efficient use of resources and managing waste from the source to its final destination, thereby creating added value and ensuring their maximum benefits, reflecting the principles of the Circular Economy. The pavilion is on display during Bangkok Design Week 2020 at the TCDC Bangkok, Grand Postal Building, Bangrak. Patiparn Sukorndhaman, President of GC and executives joined the event.

“GC is organizing GC’ pavilion, that underlines the “Circular Living” to increase understanding and encourage participation in the recycling and upcycling processes from the source to the final destination, which can create new businesses and build a business ecosystem that promotes the sustainable co-existence between people and plastic,” said Patiparn.

The pavilion consists of three zones designed under the “Bio–Circular–Green (BCG)” concept:

Zone 1: The Green Economy To introduce fiber rebar, or glass-fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) as an alternative building material to steel because of its lightweight thereby reducing the carbon footprint, or greenhouse gas emissions, by 43% in the manufacturing process compared to the use of steel, while also consuming 50% less energy. It’s also three-times more durable than steel, and resistant to rust and corrosion making it last longer.

Zone 2: The Circular Economy Plastic waste, or used plastics, are transformed into value-added new products through the upcycling process.

Zone 3: The Bio-economy Demonstrates how to use bioplastics which are biodegradable and environmentally-friendly.

In addition to the pavilion, this year, GC launched a ‘Smart Recycling Center’ in partnership with Farm D, to provide a space to demonstrate how to sort and manage the waste generated at the event. This concept builds on the idea of adding value to waste through the upcycling process as part of the Customer Solution Center Shop by GC (CSC Shop by GC) which exhibits some upcycled products and aims to build awareness and a better understanding about waste that is fully recovered and no longer viewed as “waste.” In addition, visitors can shop for upcycled products and alternative materials at the event. The “Everlasting Forest by GC” pavilion was held from February 1-9, 2020 at the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC), The Grand Postal Building, Bangrak. The pavilion was open to the public free of charge.
