GC and PTT Group join forces with national-level educational, government, and private sector partners to establish the “Thailand CCUS Consortium” to reinforce Thailand’s Carbon Neutral and Net Zero goals.
On July 20, 2022, Mr. Varit Namwong, Chief Operating Officer, Value Added Products, together with PTT Group executives and national-level partners from the BCGeTEC Center, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, and from the private sector announced the establishment of the “Carbon Dioxide Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) Technology Development Consortium” at the Future Energy Asia 2022 event. Also in attendance was Mrs. Premrutai Vinaiphat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and honored witness of the new venture, as well as representatives of government agencies and public organizations such as the Energy Policy and Planning Office of the Ministry of Energy, the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) as consultants.
Mr. Varit, along with executives from the product innovation and innovation management divisions, visited the exhibition booth of the BCGeTEC Center, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, in order to study the guidelines for the development and application of capture and utilization technology from the industrial sector with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions in various climate-affecting production activities.
This is considered to be a key step in national cooperation for the development of effective technology prototypes, as well as in driving organizations and the country of Thailand as a whole to achieve its goals of Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero emissions, which will further enhance the sustainability of the country’s economic, social, and environmental development.
