The French Alumni Association and GC teamed up to hold the "333 Years from Versailles to Suan Luang Rama IX" French-style Market to pay tribute to the late King Rama IX on Father's Day and to celebrate 333 years of Franco-Thai diplomatic relations. This included lighting an upcycled Christmas tree made from plastic waste to celebrate the year-end festive season. H. E. Mr. Jacques Lapouge, the French Ambassador to Thailand, presided over the opening ceremony which took place at the Chitraladajharal Courtyard, Suan Luang Rama IX Park in Bangkok.

Premika Sucharitkul, President of the French Alumni Association and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said, "The French Alumni Association organized the ‘333 Years from Versailles to Suan Luang Rama IX" French-style Market to commemorate the benevolence of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej on Father's Day and to mark the 333 years of Franco-Thai diplomatic relations when Ayudhaya succeeded in establishing closer ties with France. It all began when King Narai sent Orkpravisut Sunthorn, aka Chao Phraya Kosaparn, as his envoy to meet with Louis XIV of France. This event also marks over three centuries of mutual learning and cooperation beginning with the very first group of Thai students who set foot in France. In this regard, the French Alumni Association, together with the private sector and the Suan Luang Rama IX Foundation, decided to hold the ‘333 Years from Versailles to Suan Luang Rama IX' French-style Market which took place from 7-8 December 2019 from 10.00 AM-8.00 PM at the Chitraladajharal Courtyard, Suan Luang Rama IX Park to promote French arts and culture unique to Versailles. Eventgoers were invited to ‘chim' (taste) and shop at a French-style market. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales was presented to Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for her French garden restoration project."

Dr. Chaya Chandavasu, Senior Vice President, Sustainability and Corporate Branding at PTT Global Chemical Plc. or GC, said, "GC is pleased to take part in celebrating the 333 years of Franco-Thai diplomatic relations and welcoming the new decade of the 2020s by lighting the Christmas tree which symbolizes the year-end festive celebration. A really important thing to highlight is that the tree is made from plastic waste through the upcycling process. The event also includes the ‘Circular Living... A lifestyle that changes the world' exhibition which increases public awareness on the need to change behaviors and lifestyles to promote the efficient use of resources, and properly sorting waste before upcycling to produce new value-added products. In addition, the event promotes the use of bioplastics made from plants as a new and effective way to support environmentally-friendly biodegradable plastics. So an array of products from the ‘Upcycling by GC' project are on display and available for sale, underlining our approach to giving a new life to plastic waste through the upcycling process using innovations and creative ideas to produce a fashionable collection of functional yet beautiful items."

One of the highlights of "333 Years from Versailles to Suan Luang Rama IX" was the light and sound presentation of Kosapan's journey in a way that has never been presented before, demonstrating the journey of the Siamese envoy from Ayudhaya to Brest, together with the marvels of Versailles through magical light and dance performances. The association brought Versailles to Suan Luang allowing Thais to enjoy a taste of France along with French products at in the warm ambiance of the Marché de Noël. There were several stalls selling products in the style of a Christmas market which is popular during the festive season in December in many French cities. In addition, there were a variety of artistic and cultural performances including classical music and jazz performed by Thai and French artists such as Frank Herrgott, Catherine Barbier and the Cabaret des Invités, and Natasha Patamapongse. Montmartre-style street artists were on hand to draw portraits in different styles while the artists' corner offered painting exhibitions and lessons by popular artists including Suchart Wongthong, Maitri Photharaj, and Aphichai Karikan, among others. Acclaimed make-up artist Montri Watlaead gave a floral twist to the faces of patrons in keeping with the flowery theme of Suan Luang's festivities while the many zones offered a pleasant Montmartre street-style backdrop for selfies and photos with friends.
