GC Group’s nine factories, GC2, GC3, GC4, GC8, GC12, GCS, GC-M PTA, HMC (PDH and PP Plants), recently won an award for supporting the development of an eco-industrial town with the Map Ta Phut industrial estate recognized as Eco-World Class, and WHA Eastern Industrial Estate (Map Ta Phut) recognized for Eco-Excellence. The award was presented by Ms. Somjin Piluek, Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), at the “Eco Innovation Forum 2020” academic seminar under the concept of “Resilient to Survive, Industry 4.0 Solutions in the New Normal” which took place at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC), Bangna on 24-25 September 2020.

Mr. Wirat Boonbumrungchai, GC’s Senior Vice President – Quality, Safety, Occupational Health and Environment, was on hand to receive a token of appreciation from Mr. Chakart Patanasri, Director of Office of Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, who thanked GC Group for their continued support with the development of eco-industrial towns.

In addition, GC2 (a utility plant) was certified with the Water Footprint label by Mr. Panuwat Triyangkulsri, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry. The certification confirms that the industrial estate has the capacity to evaluate a factory’s total water consumption based on the ISO 14046 water footprint framework which helps factories identify when they are consuming the highest amount of water and to then find ways to improve water efficiencies and substantially reduce consumption.
