GC Group launched the “Plastic companies stand side by side with the Thai people to win the fight against COVID-19” campaign, highlighting a crucial role for plastic which can protect medical professionals, in addition to donating plastic film to hospitals across the country to prevent the spread and infection of the COVID-19 virus. A total of 905 hospitals in 77 provinces requested and have already received GC Group’s plastic film as of April 8, 2020.

This project shows how plastic companies are effectively collaborating and giving back to society by demonstrating the value of plastic to the medical community. PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC), GC Marketing Solutions Company Limited (GCM), GC Logistics Solutions Company Limited (GCL) and 25 plastic companies joined the campaign. GC Group donated 30 tons of high quality LDPE/LLDPE/HDPE plastic resin under the InnoPlus brand. The durable and flexible resin allows the 25 plastic companies to produce plastic film that is 20-100 microns thick. The various thickness of the film, in turn, makes it suitable for a variety of uses:

  • 100 microns can be used to produce partitions to separate patients at screening points.
  • 50 microns can be used as wrapping for patient beds, wheelchairs and the interior of ambulances.
  • 20 microns can be used as wrapping for medical equipment and furniture.

Generally, LDPE/LLDPE/HDPE plastic resin under the InnoPlus brand is used to produce conventional products such as shopping bags and film for greenhouses which are used in our daily lives, and not specifically for crisis situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This project therefore shows how plastic can be used to produce products that provide effective medical protections, demonstrating its importance and value.
